Take a look around today at people in line at a grocery store or waiting for their bags at the airport .. What do you see?! Most of them are staring down into a glowing mobile device, passing time by checking on friends, catching up on texts or e-mail or playing a game. Thanks to technology, we can see a change in how people today kill time.
The 2nd of December is the time of year we renew our pledge of loyalty to our country, celebrate our union, and cherish the memories of our country’s accomplishments. It’s the time of year where our hearts beat with love for those who are not with us today but are always present in our hearts filling us with pride and glory.
Forty One years have passed since the union was formed, and in each passing year, the spirit of Our Father Zayed still shines brightly.Read more
This post is only for those who are up to the DARE!
The Disconnecting Dare is all about disconnecting for a whole day (and I chose this Saturday) It’s about give up your cell phone, iPod, laptop, iPad or any electronic devices (i.e. no Texting, no Facebook, no BBMing, no Whatsapping or tweeting) YES, A DISCONNECT, so you can connect with community, yourself and the environment.
Are Smartphones & Cell Phones Impacting Negatively On Family, Business And Social Relationships?
Smartphones are one of the best pieces of technology that have been developed. It’s amazing that a piece of equipment that small in size can be so powerful. Smartphones have transformed our social interactions. Nowadays, people are spending more time on their smartphones than on any other things. Apple App Store currently has over 400,000 apps and the Google Android Market has over 250,000 apps and now Windows 8 Store is catching up. But when exactly is too much, too much?
Remember how annoying it was when someone had an instagram handle which is different from their twitter handle. You thought million of times whether to mention them on instagram and not share it on twitter or not to mention them on instagram and share it on twitter.. There’s nothing worse than that!
“With endless applications, high-speed wireless Internet access, and free messaging services, smart phones have revolutionized the way we communicate”
Nowadays, we (Smartphones users) are closely “attached” to our mobile devices. Without our phone we feel “lost,” “tense,” or “not updated.” where on the other hand regular phone users feel free or quiet without their phones.
“I strongly believe that TV Shows shouldn’t have a twitter account they can create a hash-tag & communicate with the audience through the Channel’s account” – Heba AlSamt
Today, the impact of social media on media has been to such an extent that even television channels are making their presence. Television channels are using the power of social media to increase the popularity of the shows which is awesome knowing that nowadays people are found multitasking on digital devices while in front of a television and sharing with their friends and live tweeting.
So Why a “hashtag” and not an “account”?
VOD (Video On Demand) is taking over the world … yes I believe in that.
Video on demand continues to expand around the world every day, which means that TV content will find a wider audience globally. Nowadays, video is in demand, as never before. The days when if you missed an episode of a TV series you had to borrow a tape from a friend or wait for a repeat of the show is gone. Today we as audience are used to watching what we like, when we like, and we do not have to miss a thing. The audience is in control and this should be considered by all of the broadcasters and TV channels.
Apple released iOS 6 to the public today making the download available to users of recent iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch models and it’s available in for UAE users now. iOS 6 adds over 200 new features, like Apple’s own Maps app, Facebook integration, Siri improvements and more.
Be patient as the rush to download the update usually slows the update process to a crawl.
For what I’ve seen so far iOS 6 has given the user more features to make the things we do every day even better. For anyone who has received a late night text message disturbing their sleep, or accidentally received a dumb phone call in the middle of a meeting, the new Do Not Disturb feature is a lifesaver. Moreover, here are few features I loved …
Should I Outsource My Social Media Management?
Well, I am not against outsourcing but part of the beauty of social media is its authenticity. Social media is built on trust and real credibility and by outsourcing it you are misleading people and you lose the trust.
Outsourcing takes the “social” out of social networking. Social networking requires a personal connection with those you are trying to network with. You can only do this yourself. To me outsourcing social media is like hiring someone else to answer your phone or email pretending to be you. (image this for a bit) would you do that? Hope not!
